As much as I love the fighting game resurgence, Capcom was spitting out too many games at one time while forgetting that it wasn’t the 90’s anymore when that was justified. I mean after that Capcom started having misfires all over the place. I think Ono got semi demoted over it or at least that’s when opinions of him started to seriously sour at Capcom. Seriously the first game had a troubled development (a lot of money sunk into licensed music and outsourced cgi scenes), a scandal over the on disc dlc (and backlash over the sony only fighters), the gems mechanic was half banned (and hated as it was micro transactions), it was really unbalanced (mostly due to gems, not so bad without and was patched at the end of its life) and it didn’t really recoup dev costs in sales.
